Couple take a gamble by paying £500 for Amazon pallet and hit the jackpot

A lucky couple took a huge gamble and bought an Amazon returns mystery pallet for £500 and couldn't believe the profit they are able to make from the goodies inside

A lucky couple who took a gamble when buying a mystery Amazon returns pallet couldn't believe their luck as they discovered what was inside. They now estimate to cash in over £,2000 for flogging their items, after paying just £500 for the pallet.

Not knowing the contents of your mystery pallet is always a risky game, but this duo struck gold with their finds. Youtubers Jamie and Sarah McCauley, a married couple from Michigan, regularly post their hauls on YouTube, and in their latest video, they unboxed their new mystery Amazon haul. Having become pros at picking out good pallets, they share their tips on the video, and it's worth noting - as the couple estimated their box contents are worth £2,367 ($3,062).

These pallets often consist of items that have been returned to a retailer, and for some lucky customers, it's a great way to make money, although it can also be a great way to lose money too. "Our strategy is typically to pick out a pallet in which we can see one or two items which we hope will pay for most of the pallet," Sarah explained in a video on the pair's YouTube page. "So that's why Jamie chose this pallet that has some kind of welder and everything else should be a bonus."

As they started pulling items from the pallet that was jam packed into their car, one of the first things that caught the couple's eye was an unopened casserole dish, as well as a pricey unopened foot spa and pet items that "usually sell really well online". As they sifted through their boxes, the duo also found a gold chandelier that's worth around £80 ($100).

As well as profitable items, they also explain that you can get broken, odd and unusable products - like the metal furniture legs they found lurking in their pallet. For the items they can't sell, such as used bedding, the couple donate to charities and groups in need of free items.

One item that made Sarah jump for joy was pulling out a designer Caraway stainless steel kettle. Jamie originally dismissed it as something that would only cost around £23.50 ($30) until his wife excitedly said they could get around £160 ($195) for it. Sarah explained: "[This is] beautiful too because it's in this pristine, original packaging so that always helps for eBay sales as well."

Some other big finds the couple pulled out were a welding machine worth £217 ($270), the original reason for Jamie selecting this pallet, some kitchen stools costing £140 ($180) as well as smaller items such as glass vases, snow shoes, a tie and belt organiser, a shoe organiser, photo frames, rugs, a huge LED ring light, and a few different pet items. Sarah said: "Pet stuff sells really well for me on Facebook Marketplace too, not necessarily huge profit but definitely £15 ($20) here or there all the time."

Feeling a little deflated about their pallet, Jamie said: "I don't feel too great about this pallet, it was a rougher one. We used to get monster pallets and it would be a $200 item, $400 item, but now it's getting a little bit more dicey. We still think it's a great way to make money - you just have to be willing to take the risk sometimes."

Making their money back by reselling the items on Facebook Marketplace and eBay, the couple knew they would still make a profit, but also admit it wasn't one of their best. Later realising they could cash in a lot more than they originally thought for it, the RRPs of all the products inside came to £2,367 ($3,062) and left them feeling much luckier than they thought.
